- 10 oz ziti pasta
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs (for dredging)
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 3–4 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- Marinara sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
- Boil ziti pasta until al dente, then drain and let cool.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Transfer the cheese mixture to a piping bag or plastic bag with the tip cut off.
- Pipe the filling into each ziti tube until full.
- Set up a dredging station: one bowl with flour, one with whisked eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with panko.
- Coat each stuffed ziti in flour, dip in egg, and roll in breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan to 350°F.
- Fry the stuffed ziti in batches until golden brown, about 2 minutes per batch.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For a baked version, bake at 400°F for 12-15 minutes until crispy.
- Can be frozen after breading and fried directly from frozen.
- Pair with a side of garlic aioli or spicy arrabbiata sauce for extra flavor.
