Description

This Stuffed Ziti Fritta is a crispy, cheesy appetizer featuring ziti pasta filled with a creamy ricotta mixture, coated in breadcrumbs, and fried to golden perfection. Inspired by Italian flavors, this dish is perfect for parties or as a delicious snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 oz ziti pasta
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs (for dredging)
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 34 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Boil ziti pasta until al dente, then drain and let cool.
  2. In a bowl, mix ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Transfer the cheese mixture to a piping bag or plastic bag with the tip cut off.
  4. Pipe the filling into each ziti tube until full.
  5. Set up a dredging station: one bowl with flour, one with whisked eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with panko.
  6. Coat each stuffed ziti in flour, dip in egg, and roll in breadcrumbs.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan to 350°F.
  8. Fry the stuffed ziti in batches until golden brown, about 2 minutes per batch.
  9. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  10. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For a baked version, bake at 400°F for 12-15 minutes until crispy.
  • Can be frozen after breading and fried directly from frozen.
  • Pair with a side of garlic aioli or spicy arrabbiata sauce for extra flavor.
